MUST READ!!!!!ETERNAL ESCAPE BY NOTORIUOS CRIMINAL ANANIAS MATHE-DEATH

Ananias Mathe unleashed a reign of rape, robbery and housebreaking terror and gained notoriety for his prison escapes. Picture: Sizwe Ndingane/Independent Media

Durban - Good riddance. That was the reaction following the news on Wednesday that notorious criminal and escape artist Ananias Mathe had died.
Mathe died at Durban’s King Edward VIII Hospital on Tuesday after a short illness. He had been admitted last Friday.
“It is considered impolite to speak ill of the dead. However, in the case of Mr Mathe, society is now free from a dangerous and malevolent individual,” said DA Correctional Services shadow minister James Selfe.
“The death of the notorious criminal and escape artist, Mathe, brings to an end a chapter for our prison system,” continued Selfe.
Mathe, a Mozambican national, was convicted of 64 charges, including rape, attempted rape, attempted murder, robbery and theft.
He also killed 13 dogs with poison before entering the homes of his victims with a torch in one hand and a gun in the other.
He would shine the torch in the faces of his victims before raping them, and disappear with their jewellery and cash.
Between 1999 and towards the end of 2002, Mathe specialised in breaking into people’s homes and violently removing their belongings, but did not rape his victims.
In 2003, he escalated to rape.
In 2006, he reportedly managed to escape from the Pretoria C-Max Prison by covering his body with petroleum jelly and sliding out of his cell window. However, he was caught a month later. Six prison warders were dismissed in connection with this escape.
Earlier, he had escaped while an awaiting-trial prisoner in 2005.
After being recaptured following the Pretoria C Max escape, he was sent to the super-max Ebongweni Prison in Kokstad, where he twice tried to escape.
In 2013, he chiselled a hole through a wall in his bid to escape, but was caught.
He tried again this year by breaking a window in his cell.

In September, when news of the failed escape bid leaked out, The Mercury visited C Max where it found prison officials searching cells looking for any contraband. Nothing was recovered.
Mathe had tried to escape by bashing the glass of his prison cell window and sawing off the steel on the window to make it bigger.
The attempt embarrassed and infuriated prison officials who said a thorough investigation would be conducted.
An official at the time remarked that Mathe seemed to have had high-level training. “He can use anything as a weapon. His hands are a weapon,” said the official.
“These incidents (of escapes) point not to Mr Mathe’s ingenuity or Houdini-like abilities, but rather to the depressing reality that offenders with large amounts of money made from the proceeds of crimes can bribe their way out of most situations,” said Selfe on Wednesday.
“It is a tribute to the Kokstad C Max staff, and the prison’s security measures, that he was unable to escape.”
Erickson Zungu, the NFP’s spokesman on community safety and liaison, suggested that if the death penalty was still legal in South Africa, it would have been suitable for Mathe.
KwaZulu-Natal Correctional Services spokesman Thulani Mdluli said Mathe’s family had been informed of his death, but would not elaborate due to security concerns.
Mdluli said Mathe had not been well for about a month.
“What we know is that he had a digestive problem.
“He was first treated inside our facility in Kokstad. At some point he was admitted to Usher Memorial (Hospital) in Kokstad. Thereafter, he was referred to Edendale Hospital in Pietermaritzburg where he underwent an operation and was later discharged.
“On December 23, he was admitted to King Edward VIII Hospital where he underwent an operation the following day. He died on December 27 of natural causes.”
Mdluli said it was awaiting the full autopsy report but the medical reports suggested his death was due to digestive problems.
During a visit to the prison following his latest attempt almost three months ago, one of the prison officials remarked that Mathe did not look well.

BISA KDEI IS AN AZONTO SINGER NOT HIGHLIFE-DADA KWABENA

High-life musician Dada Kwabena has said in a recent interview that, multiple award winning artiste Bisa Kdei is not a high-life musician but an Azonto singer.

The young musician who is gradually gaining grounds in the Ghanaian music industry also riposted that, Bisa Kdei does not deserve the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards’ Highlife Artiste of the Year 2016 because he is not doing highlife music.

Speaking with DJ Frank Abeeku on Gentlemen Radio’s most listened program, ‘Wack or Dope’ Dada Kwabena outlined some elements of the highlife music genre which Bisa Kdei does not have in his songs.

According to him, there is no doubt Bisa Kdei is a good musician but he is definitely not doing highlife and therefore Ghanaians should not tag him as one.

“Bisa Kdei is a good musician who has won the hearts of many with his music but I want to state that he is not a highlife artiste.”

“What Bisa Kdei is doing is Azonto music and not highlife. When you talk about highlife musicians in Ghana, you can mention names like Dada Lumba, Ofori Amposah, Dada Kwabena and the rest but not Bisa Kdei.”

Dada Kwabena is well known for hit tracks like ‘Thank God Its Friday’ and ‘Begyidi Da’ and he is currently working on a new track ‘Toffee’ which would be released this week.

He is also set to release two visuals in the coming days for his popular tracks.

DRAMA AT DAASEBRE GYAMENAH'S FUNERAL;WIFE ABSENT

Final funeral rites of the late highlife musician Daasebre Gyamenah could not happen on Saturday, November 26 without a drama.

Ahmed Banda, first Vice Chairman of GHAMRO who represented the association has expressed complete disgust on how things happened on Saturday during the funeral of the “Kokooko” singer.

Bandex as he is popularly called in an interview with Dave Hammer on Hello FM in Kumasi when the funeral was ongoing on Saturday disclosed that he did not see any public figure at the funeral aside two delegates from MUSIGA.

Comparing it to the funeral ceremony of late musicians like George Forest, Omanhene Pozo and others he has attended in recent times, the music and movie producer described Daasebre’s funeral as the worst. According to him, the family head realized that attendance was low so he took time to explain to sympathizers what happened prior to the funeral day between the maternal and paternal family.

Bandex continued that he rebuked the family in public over what occurred between the two families. He added that he did not give the family the funeral contribution GHAMRO gave him. He explained that the association gives its contribution to wife and children of the deceased so he cannot give the cash to the family since the wife was absent at the funeral.

Bandex promised to give the cheque, which has the funeral contribution of GHAMRO to the wife when he returns to Accra.

The argument over the dead body we all talked about negatively affected the funeral ceremony. To be frank with you, aside two MUSIGA representatives I saw, I didn’t see any familiar face here.

I’ve been very sad for what is happening at the funeral. I recently attended George Forest and Omanhene Pozo’s funeral but what I’ve seen here is very sad.

The family head saw that there is something wrong at the funeral so he came public to explain why things are going bad including the low attendance. After the family head gave his long speech, they introduced GHAMRO and gave us the opportunity to talk. I didn’t hide the truth from them when I took the microphone.

I told everybody at the funeral that the fight over the dead body is the result we are all seeing. I told them that GHAMRO’s cheque is given to the spouse and children of the deceased so since wife of Daasebre is not around, I’m returning the cheque to Accra so they should forgive us for not giving them our funereal contribution.

We will call the wife and give her the cheque.” Bandex narrated to Dave Hammer on Saturday.

Daasebre Gyamenah died at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra on Friday, July 29, 2016.

I DON'T JUDGE WOMEN WHO DATE MARRIED MEN-BERLA MUNDI

Media personality Berla Mundi has stated that she won’t judge women who decide to date married men for the simple reason that no one is perfect.
The Rhythmz presenter made this statement when she was a guest last Saturday on the award winning show on Viasat 1, Fanzone. Berla argued that many reasons may account for a woman’s decision to go in for a married man and she would refrain from judging such women.

“Honestly, we all know it is wrong, but at the same time as well I am not here to judge anybody because I don’t think I live such a very clean life to be able to tell someone that you should date a married man or not.”
“There are so many reasons why this happens and I mean, hearing stories, someone might go in for a married man because she is not happy at home, someone might go in for a married man because she just wants to play. Whichever way, you are the lady so you should decide that okay, maybe I don’t want to do this and that. Who am I to judge you,” she maintained.

On several occasions, Berla Mundi has been rumoured to be involved romantically with Ghanaian rapper EL, but she rejected those rumour again on the show, insisting she has never dated a celebrity because she doesn’t want her private life to be out there in the media
“I do think I can handle it. I don’t want to continue having my life all over the place. I want someone who is way out of the media space or the camera space so we can have a very quiet life together. I am not doing any celebrity and I will not even consider it.”
Berla Mundi has over the past few years distinguished herself as one of the most dedicated female TV presenters and continues rise in ranks.

NO SHORT DRESSES WOULD BE ALLOWED AT GHANA MOVIE AWARDS-FRED NUAMAH

According to Fred Nuamah, wearing short and revealing dresses to the 7th edition of the Ghana Movie Awards event is a no-no.
Mr. Nuamah, the organiser of the award scheme spoke on the Accra-based Hitz FM about the yearly award scheme and the behaviour that would be considered acceptable at the event.
He cautioned prospective patrons ofthe event by stating that they could buy their tickets and drive all the way to the event but can't wear whatever pleases them to the event.
The prescribed attire for the awards is tuxedo or black tie for the men and evening/dinner gown for the ladies. No short dresses will be allowed,” he pointed out.
He craved the indulgence of the patrons to stick to the dress code for the night to be a memorable one.

The 7th edition of the Ghana Movie Awards would take place at the Kempinski Hotel, and it seems the organizer is keen on having just a select group of people present at the event.
With this new directive obviously we shouldn't expect the infamous boobshow from Hamamat Montia at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards to happen again. But will patrons stick to the directive?
